About Chlamydia

In industrialised countries Chlamydia trachomatis is the predominant infectious agent causing sexually transmitted disease (STD). Both in men and women chlamydial infections are often asymptomatic or produce only mild and non-specific signs and symptoms. In women chlamydial infection can lead to life-threatening ectopic pregnancies and infertility.
